AWS Braket — AQT IBEX-Q1
$0.30 per task + $0.02350 per shot. The second-priciest per-shot Braket device after IonQ Forte, reflecting trapped-ion economics.
1.Representative workload costs
Concrete circuit costs for common workload sizes. Where the pricing model is non-linear (per-program minimums, per-month subscriptions), the table surfaces the floor and break-even points.
Table 1 — Workload cost reference
| Workload | Cost (USD) | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 100-shot pilot circuit | $2.65 | $0.30 task + 100 x $0.02350. Low-cost entry to EU trapped-ion. |
| 10,000-shot characterisation | $235.30 | $0.30 task + 10,000 x $0.02350. ~3.4x cheaper per shot than IonQ Forte, ~55x pricier than Rigetti. |
| VQE 200k shots | $4,700.30 | $0.30 task + 200,000 x $0.02350. Trapped-ion all-to-all connectivity can cut the shot budget deep circuits need. |
2.Structural hardware advantage
12-qubit trapped-ion register on calcium-40 ions with all-to-all connectivity (no SWAP overhead), Quantum Volume 128, 99.966% single-qubit and 98.7% two-qubit gate fidelity. Runs at room temperature in two 19-inch racks under 2 kW.
3.Position in the 2026 stack
Production, small-register EU trapped-ion. AQT (Alpine Quantum Technologies) is the first EU-hosted trapped-ion provider on Braket, physically in Innsbruck and served via the Stockholm eu-north-1 region. Launched November 2025.
4.Best-fit workloads
- Small, deep, densely-connected circuits that exploit all-to-all coupling
- EU-data-residency trapped-ion workloads
- Benchmarking against superconducting devices at equal qubit count
- Education and algorithm validation where 12 qubits suffice
