Google Quantum AI — Willow

quote only
Pricing model

Not commercially priced. Research-access only via competitive proposal programme.

1.Representative workload costs

Concrete circuit costs for common workload sizes. Where the pricing model is non-linear (per-program minimums, per-month subscriptions), the table surfaces the floor and break-even points.

Production accessNot availableWillow is not available for commercial workloads in 2026.

2.Structural hardware advantage

105-qubit superconducting with below-threshold quantum error correction demonstrated to distance-7 surface code (Acharya et al., Nature, December 2024). The first hardware to demonstrate increasing logical qubits with increasing physical-qubit scale — a milestone result for fault-tolerant quantum computing.

3.Position in the 2026 stack

Research-only, frontier. Google's strategic position is academic / fundamental-science research rather than commercial cloud QPU access. Willow is shown publicly as a research milestone, not a buyable product.

4.Best-fit workloads

5.Pricing trap

Watch for: Do not budget Willow access for production workloads. If your project depends on Willow, you need an accepted research proposal — and that's not a procurement process, it's a research grant cycle.
Verification note. Early-access research programme only; selection via proposal (deadline 15 May 2026). No public list price. Below-threshold QEC demonstrated to distance-7 surface code (Nature, Dec 2024).
